Who We Are
The recreated British 64th Regiment of Foot is a national non-profit educational association — a 501(c)(3) organization--which portrays the common life of the people of the late Colonial period and the American Revolution.
What We Do
We put on pageants and reenactments for historic sites and communities. We provide educational living history programs. We are dedicated to improving the public understanding of the causes, events, outcome, and relevance of the American Revolution.
Our Members
Both men and women are warmly invited to join us. You will find children in the camp also. We are family-oriented, and interpret the roles of the men, women, and children of the 18th Century Revolutionary War armies.
Our Portrayal
We are the oldest recreated British regiment in the U.S. (1959), and one of the largest. The British portrayal provides a deeper appreciation among Americans of the risks taken by our Founding Fathers in opposing not only the British Government, but also the finest professional military force of its day. We are a founding member of the www.britishbrigade.org
Our Reputation
The 64th has attained widespread acclaim by its participation in events from Quebec to Florida. Our constant improvements in the authenticity of our kit and programs has kept us on the cutting edge of historic interpretation. This results in our having an outstanding reputation with historic sites.
A Brief History
The original 64th Regiment of Foot was formed in 1758, and arrived in Boston in 1768. The 64th never lost a battle, never lost its Colours, and likely saw more action than any other British regiment, from Boston to New York to Brandywine and Germantown (Philadelphia) to Charleston, SC, and more.
Part of Something Bigger
We are family-oriented so that our wives, girlfriends and children can participate with us at events, reflecting the role contributed by the Distaff in the logistical support of an 18th century British regiment. Our effort is to be as historically accurate as is possible in a safe and enjoyable manner. We are ever mindful that we portray part of a Regiment that continues to exist today and therefore our efforts must bring credit, and in no way discredit, to the original and recreated 64th Regiment of Foot.
Our Purpose
The purpose of the 64th Regiment of Foot, Ltd. is to provide the general public with a resource which will authentically interpret and enhance the knowledge and understanding of the history of the American Revolution. We consistently strive to help to educate the public into the role of the British Soldier and the 64th Regiment of Foot during the period which we portray. We all love history, reenacting, our friendship with each other and this hobby. If you have the same spirit, the same goals, and are of a like mind, then we welcome you with open arms as a true comrade. If you are interested in joining our unit, then please go to the Recruiting section.
